Sprenger’s Dynamic RS 40408 Single Jointed Dynamic RS eggbutt is an excellent choice for horses that tend to play too much with the bit and/or are ‘fussy’ in their mouths, but at the same time are unresponsive to double-jointed (lozenge) bits. Such horses may have a very unsteady contact and head carriage but despite seeming sensitive, they may ignore the rider and appear strong or willful at times.

Single jointed bits have a louder ‘voice’ than lozenge bits in general, which affords the rider more control when the horse is strong or against the hand. At the same time, due to the ergonomically formed design of the shaped mouthpiece, horses more easily accept the contact in this bit and step into the hand willingly and softly, with much less of their previous fussiness.

The eggbutt rings, which support the contact and help to keep the horse on the bit, enhance the effect of this bit, keep the bit central in the mouth and further assist in keeping the horse straight with a softer and stiller head and neck carriage. This can result in a much calmer horse, that is steadier in the contact and more responsive and soft in the hand. These qualities also make this a very useful pony bit for child riders and gives them more control whilst still using a snaffle.
