All KK Ultra bits have an arrow on one end of the mouthpiece. The bit should be fitted with the arrow on the left-hand side of the horse’s head and pointing forwards.

Compared to conventional bits, the KK Ultra range has a middle link that is shortened and angled forwards by 45 degrees. At this angle, the middle link (also known as a ‘bean’ or lozenge) lies gently on the tongue resulting in even and constant contact to allow clear instructions through the reins.

The legendary KK Ultra bits utilise the exceptional sensitivity of the horse’s tongue which multiplies the perceptions from signals given by the bit. When pressure is applied to the reins the middle part of the KK Ultra fully rests on the tongue without squeezing and the connecting rings roll on the tongue. The KK Ultra bits provide an incomparable precise contact between rider and horse.

The anatomically adapted mouthpiece is very comfortable for the horse, enabling the rider to give softer instructions and supporting the horse’s suppleness and softness in a harmonious manner. A huge improvement can normally be seen immediately when switching to a KK Ultra bit.

The KK Ultra is available in several thicknesses. This 18mm thickness is suitable for horses that have standard mouth conformation and for larger mouths. For smaller mouths and horses with flatter palates and/or fatter tongues, we recommend the 16mm diameter or the 14mm diameter, both of which we keep in stock.

The KK Ultra snaffle is the most successful and popular bit used for sport horses worldwide. For riders that have not used Sprenger bits before and are wondering where to start, this model is probably the single most useful bit in Sprenger’s huge range. It is suitable for all horses, of all ages, and all riders. It gives a superb contact and feel with a willing acceptance and softness from the horse that is the hallmark of Sprenger bits.
The mouthpiece is made from SENSOGAN, a patented bit material for a sensitive connection to the horse. The innovative mix of materials including the micronutrient manganese and a reduced copper content increases the horses chewing activity and salivation in a targeted manner. Sensogan achieves optimal concentration, calmness and relaxation with horses being much more willing to perform. Sensogan bits are particularly suitable for sensitive horses, they are also toxicologically tested, have high compatibility and are exceptionally well tolerated and easy to clean.
