The KK Ultra Universal is one of the most successful – and popular – jumping bits worldwide. Previously only available in an 18mm diameter, such is the demand for this bit that Sprenger have brought out this new model in 16mm and different sizes, expressly to fill the demand from customers whose horses prefer a slimmer mouthpiece and/or need a different size from those available in the 18mm version.

This model is manufactured in the following sizes: 4 3/4″ (115mm), 5″ (125mm), 5 1/4″ (135mm),  5 3/4″ (145mm).

All KK Ultra bits have an arrow on one end of the mouthpiece. The bit should be fitted with the arrow on the left hand side of the horse’s head and pointing forwards.

The KK Ultra Universal provides excellent brakes with an astoundingly high acceptance rate from all types of horses, with a soft and willing response being the norm. Extremely versatile, it can be used with either one or two reins, or roundings, and adds some lever action to the normal qualities of a KK Ultra snaffle, which can help enormously with horses that resist by coming above the bit. The Universal can help with stiffness or ‘blocking’ at the poll and jaw, leading to a softening of the neck, yielding to the rein aids, and a rounder outline.

The lever action of the Universal has a slight delay due to the lateral offset position of the upper ring. Riders can additionally add a curb strap to get a more direct action. We keep the curb straps in stock and they can be found in our ‘Sprenger Bit Accessories’ category.
