Dynamic RS bits are characterised by an ergonomically shaped mouthpiece. They lie perfectly in the horse’s mouth resulting in soft and even pressure on the entire tongue area, encouraging the horse to chew. Dynamic RS bits stimulate the horse to accept the bit more easily.
In addition, the anatomically formed mouthpiece allows a rapid and balanced effect on the tongue. This bit supports the contact to the corners of the mouth in a very effective way, keeping the horse on the bit. At the same time, the gentle joint in the middle – the characteristic feature of KK Ultra bits – makes it a very horse-friendly bit and mild in action.
Due to the curved joints, the bit remains in the correct and central position on the tongue. The fine lozenge can direct gentle pressure pivotally on the tongue. The bit encourages the confidence of the horse in the rider’s hand and improves the contact.
All Dynamic RS bits have an arrow on one end of the mouthpiece. The bit should be fitted with the arrow on the left-hand side of the horse’s head and facing forwards.
Sizing information: D-Ring bits (and all other fixed cheek bits such as eggbutts etc) must be fitted so that there is no mouthpiece visible outside of the horse’s lips. The rings should be just touching the lips when a light contact is taken up on the reins. This is different from loose ring bits, which are fitted with a small gap between the rings and the lips. Because of this, it is necessary to go down in size by a 1/4″ when changing from a loose ring to a fixed cheek bit. For example a horse that wears a 5 1/2″ loose ring snaffle, needs a 5 1/4″ D-Ring snaffle. Going down in size by a 1/4″ applies to every horse in every size. Dynamic RS D-Ring snaffle characteristics: The D-Rings prevent the bit from being pulled through the horse’s mouth. It lies steadily on the tongue encouraging a positive contact with the bit and the rider’s hand thereby giving confidence to sensitive horses. The mouthpiece directs gentle pivotal pressure onto the horse’s tongue enabling precise rein aids. The fixed rings cannot slide through the mouthpiece as rein aids are applied which makes the action of the bit more direct compared to a loose ring snaffle.
The Dynamic RS D-Ring snaffle is a good choice for horses that lack confidence in the contact, often with an unsteady head carriage and being over-sensitive to the aids. This is a bit to help the horse trust the contact due to its stillness in the mouth and the smaller, more precise and gentle aids that can be given. A bit to help a nervous or tense horse relax and hence soften to the aids.
