This model has a neck length of 40mm, the longest that Sprenger makes, and facilitates ease of use in situations where the distance between the rider’s leg and the horse’s side is longer than usual, as with a long-legged rider on a small barreled horse for instance. The longer neck of these spurs allows the rider to touch the horse with the spur without undue movement of his or her legs.
It is Unisex fitting, easy to bend in or out to fit the size and shape of your boots, and with a 100% guarantee against breakage.
Sprenger Rowel Spurs 47440 can be a good choice for horses that need motivating, especially those who are non-responsive to a smooth rowelled spur. The rowel is completely blunt, with rounded edges, but gives a faint ‘bumping’ sensation that can elicit a quicker response to the aids.
Also useful for horses that mark easily with blunt spurs – blunt spurs (without a rowel) tend to drag the skin and cause friction and rubbing, which is both painful and unsightly; a rowelled spur used correctly, can eliminate those concerns.
